About the Candidate

MARIE SARANTAKIS

Marie Sarantakis is an accomplished Illinois family law attorney and seasoned bar leader committed to preserving the strength, professionalism, and integrity of the legal profession. In 2023, the Illinois State Bar Association recognized Marie as Young Lawyer of the Year, and the American Bar Association honored her as one of the Top Forty Young Attorneys in the United States, for her sustained service, leadership, and dedication to the law.


Marie has served the ISBA in numerous elected and presidentially appointed roles, including Assembly Member, Delegate to the ABA Young Lawyers Division, and long-standing Newsletter Editor, for which she received the Newsletter Service Award. She has served on multiple substantive ISBA committees and has held leadership roles with the American Bar Association, DuPage County Bar Association, Illinois Legal Aid Online, Illinois Lawyers Assistance Program, Northwest Suburban Bar Association, Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, and West Suburban Bar Association. Her service reflects deep experience in governance, professional responsibility, education, and strategic planning.


A frequent CLE presenter and published author, Marie has written more than 30 articles for bar publications, contributed two chapters to Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education handbooks, authored two best-selling books, and taught 17 continuing legal education seminars. She brings a practical perspective grounded in daily courtroom advocacy, mediation, collaborative practice, and court-appointed service as a Guardian ad Litem and Parenting Coordinator.


Marie is the Principal Attorney of Sarantakis Law Group, Ltd., in Oak Brook, Illinois. Outside of the office, Marie enjoys travel, culinary pursuits, fine automobiles, and spending time with her German Shepherds.
